Yamal Thrilled Nearing Title Win

Falling behind by two early goals against Real Madrid, Barcelona made a stunning comeback with four first-half goals to win yet another El Clásico. A thrilled Lamine Yamal celebrated as the Catalan side moved within touching distance of the La Liga title.

In a thrilling La Liga clash at home on Sunday (May 11), Hansi Flick’s side defeated Real Madrid 4-3. With this win, Barcelona have now won all four El Clásico matches this season. The victory puts them seven points ahead of second-placed Real Madrid, meaning just one win from their remaining three matches would secure the league title.

Barcelona were 2-0 down within the first 14 minutes after two early goals from Kylian Mbappé. However, they turned the game around brilliantly, scoring four goals between the 19th and 45th minutes to go into halftime with a 4-2 lead. Although Mbappé completed his hat-trick in the second half, Barcelona held on to claim all three points.

After the match, Yamal’s joy was evident. He said, “It was a very important match, and we wanted to bounce back in front of our fans at home. We struggled at times, but we had clear chances to increase our lead.”

Just last week, Barcelona were dramatically eliminated from the Champions League after a 4-3 defeat to Inter Milan in the semifinal second leg. Tears were seen in Yamal’s eyes after that heartbreaking loss. He had then vowed to come back stronger next season.

Now in fantastic form, the young Spanish winger repeated that promise, saying all his focus is currently on the league title. “I can’t wait to play at Camp Nou again (currently under renovation). For now, playing in front of our fans at the Olympic Stadium is amazing. We’ll try to win the Champions League next season, but for now, we’re happy to be so close to winning the league,” he added.

Barcelona’s next match in their pursuit of the title is away against Espanyol on Thursday.
