Maradona’s daughter files complaint against doctor

by Sports Desk

Evidence of medical negligence surrounding Diego Maradona’s death had already come to light. Now, his daughter Giannina has formally brought multiple accusations against key doctors in court. She stated that despite repeated warnings about her father’s deteriorating health, those concerns were consistently ignored.

A total of seven doctors are facing allegations of negligence in Maradona’s treatment, with the primary accused being Leopoldo Luque. Maradona underwent surgery for a hematoma located between his skull and brain. He was admitted to the Los Olivos Clinic from November 4 to 11 in 2020. After that, he was sent home for further treatment.

Giannina revealed that her father’s condition was steadily worsening before his death, yet he was not hospitalized. She recalled telling Dr. Luque, “My father doesn’t seem well. He’s unhappy. He can’t walk.” But Luque reportedly dismissed her concerns, saying such fluctuations in health were normal.

She also stated that she repeatedly asked Luque about the nature of her father’s treatment but never received clear answers. “I visited him on his 60th birthday,” she said, “but he didn’t recognize me. When I asked if he was feeling okay, he simply said, ‘No.’”

The case is being heard by a panel of three judges and if found guilty, the doctors could face up to 25 years in prison.
