Ancelotti Wants Kaka as Assistant

by Sports Desk

Even before officially taking charge of the Brazil national team, Carlo Ancelotti has already begun laying the groundwork for his tenure. Although currently still based in Madrid, the Italian coach—who was formally announced as Brazil’s new head coach on May 12—is actively shaping his future plans from afar.

According to ESPN Brazil, Ancelotti is interested in bringing former Brazilian star Kaka into his coaching staff. Reports suggest that Ancelotti has already reached out to Kaka with a phone call to initiate preliminary discussions about the role.

Ancelotti and Kaka share a long-standing relationship, having worked together at AC Milan during the peak of Kaka’s career, with Ancelotti as coach and Kaka as a key player. Now, Ancelotti wants to reignite that connection, this time with Kaka by his side as an assistant.

Ancelotti is set to officially assume his role with the Brazilian national team on May 26. With a World Cup qualifier just ten days later, time is of the essence. To help him adapt quickly to Brazil’s unique football culture and better connect with the players, Ancelotti sees Kaka’s experience and familiarity with the environment as a valuable asset.

Ancelotti’s son, Davide Ancelotti, has been serving as his assistant at Real Madrid. However, there are strong rumors that Davide may take over as head coach of Scottish club Rangers next season. That opens the door for Kaka to potentially become the lead assistant in the national setup.

Kaka was a member of Brazil’s 2002 World Cup–winning squad, the last Brazilian team to lift the trophy. Football analysts believe that having such a legendary figure within the coaching staff could help strengthen team unity and bridge the gap between management and players—especially in a team rich with both history and pressure.
