Real Madrid may not have lifted a trophy this season, but Kylian Mbappe continues to make history with his individual brilliance. On Wednesday night, he shattered a 72-year-old club record with a goal against Mallorca.
In his debut La Liga season, Mbappé has now scored 28 goals—surpassing the previous record for most goals by a debutant in a single season for Real Madrid. That record was held by club legend Alfredo Di Stéfano, who scored 27 goals in the 1953–54 season.
Even Cristiano Ronaldo, Karim Benzema, and Ruud van Nistelrooy didn’t manage this many league goals in their debut La Liga seasons. Across all competitions, Mbappe has now scored 40 goals.
It was Mbappe who opened the scoring for Real Madrid against Mallorca, and later in stoppage time, Jacobo Ramón netted the winner to seal the victory.
