Carlo Ancelotti’s long-rumored appointment as Brazil’s national team head coach is now official. The Italian manager will take charge of the Selecao on May 26 and preparations are already underway. According to reports Ancelotti is assembling his coaching staff — and it’s set to include some familiar faces from his own family.
Brazilian media outlet Globo Esporte has reported that Ancelotti plans to include both his son, Davide Ancelotti and his son-in-law Beniamino Fulco in Brazil’s coaching setup. Davide currently serves as an assistant coach at Real Madrid while Beniamino Fulco — the husband of Ancelotti’s daughter Katia — is expected to be appointed as Brazil’s third assistant coach. Fulco will also take on the role of fitness trainer.
However, there is speculation that Davide Ancelotti may soon branch out on his own as a head coach. He has reportedly received offers from Scottish club Rangers and Italian side Como. If Davide chooses to pursue one of those opportunities Carlo Ancelotti may replace him with Paul Clement his longtime assistant. Clement has previously worked with Ancelotti at Real Madrid, Chelsea, PSG and Bayern Munich.
With Ancelotti bringing his trusted circle — including family — to Brazil expectations are rising ahead of his highly anticipated debut with the five-time world champions.
