After a remarkable debut season, German coach Hansi Flick has extended his contract with FC Barcelona. The club has officially confirmed that Flick will remain in charge until June 2027, committing to an additional two years with the Catalan giants.
Flick joined Barcelona in 2023 following his dismissal from the German national team. He was appointed head coach after Xavi Hernández stepped down last year. In his very first season at the helm, Flick led Barcelona to a stunning treble—winning La Liga, the Copa del Rey, and the Spanish Super Cup.
One of the standout aspects of the season was Barcelona’s dominance under Flick in El Clásico. Barça defeated arch-rivals Real Madrid in all four encounters this season, including the Copa del Rey final, where they secured the trophy with a convincing win.
In an official statement, Barcelona said:
“Hansi Flick has inspired hope among Barça fans in his very first season. He’s restored belief, delivered memorable comebacks, and brought home silverware. Under his leadership, Barcelona has once again become a major force in European football.”
Flick’s record speaks for itself—43 wins in 54 matches, boasting a win rate of 73%, the highest for a debut season since Luis Enrique.
Barcelona will wrap up their current season this Sunday, May 25, with a match against Athletic Bilbao. While the official contract renewal announcement was initially planned for after the game, the club confirmed the extension earlier than expected.
