Ancelotti names Real next coach

by Sports Desk

Carlo Ancelotti’s time as head coach of Real Madrid is nearing its end, with just one match remaining. Saturday’s clash against Real Sociedad will mark the final game of the legendary Italian’s second stint in charge of the Spanish giants.

Ahead of his departure, Ancelotti publicly confirmed who will be taking his place—a topic that had long been the subject of speculation.

Rumors had been circulating that Xabi Alonso, a former Real Madrid midfielder, would succeed Ancelotti. Alonso recently stepped down as head coach of Bayer Leverkusen, having led the German club to an extraordinary run, including an unbeaten away record for two consecutive Bundesliga seasons.

Speaking at a press conference, Ancelotti—who is set to become the next head coach of the Brazil national team—confirmed Alonso’s appointment and wished him well.

“I don’t want to offer advice. Everyone has their own way of doing things,” Ancelotti said. “But I do hope he enjoys working at Real Madrid. Xabi Alonso will be the first, and I wish him all the best in the world. He has what it takes to coach Real Madrid. I just hope he enjoys the experience—that’s all I have to say.”
