Miami brings Messi Magic to life

by Sports Desk

Lionel Messi came to Inter Miami’s rescue once again, helping his team avoid defeat and escape the pressure of a winless streak in Major League Soccer (MLS). Heading into the match against Philadelphia Union, Miami had failed to win in three consecutive games and was desperate to bounce back.

Held on Sunday at Subaru Park in Philadelphia, the match started poorly for Miami. They trailed 0-2 by halftime and were down 1-3 by the 86th minute. With the game slipping away, Messi stepped up with a moment of brilliance.

In the 87th minute, the Argentine superstar scored a stunning free-kick from outside the box, curling the ball over the wall and past goalkeeper Vincent Richey to make it 3-2. The goal breathed new life into Miami, and in the dying seconds of stoppage time, Telasco Segovia found the equalizer to level the score at 3-3.

While the dramatic comeback earned Miami a point, it was hardly a comforting result. The team is now winless in 7 of its last 8 matches across all competitions, conceding 23 goals during that stretch. In MLS, they have failed to win in four straight games.

Inter Miami currently sits sixth in the Eastern Conference standings, with 23 points from 14 matches (6 wins, 5 draws, 3 losses). Philadelphia, having played one more game, tops the table with 30 points.
