After wrapping up his European chapter, Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo settled in Saudi Arabia nearly three years ago to play for Al Nassr. But speculation about his future is once again gaining momentum — and his recent social media post has added fuel to the fire.
Just an hour after the conclusion of the Saudi Pro League season, Ronaldo took to social media and wrote: “One chapter ends. The story? It’s still being written. Grateful to everyone.”
The cryptic message, accompanied by a photo of him in an Al Nassr jersey, immediately sparked intrigue.
On Monday, Al Nassr faced Al Fateh in their final league game, suffering a 3-2 defeat. Despite the loss, Ronaldo reached two major milestones — scoring his 99th goal for Al Nassr and the 800th goal of his club career.
While the post did not offer any direct clarification, many interpreted it as a hint that his time at Al Nassr may be coming to an end. However, the message also suggested he’s not done with football just yet.
The 40-year-old forward joined Al Nassr from Manchester United in 2022. His contract with the Saudi club is set to expire this summer. Adding to the speculation, FIFA has announced a special transfer window from June 1 to 10 for the 32 clubs participating in this year’s expanded Club World Cup. Al Nassr won’t be part of the tournament — Saudi Arabia will be represented by Al Hilal instead.
FIFA President Gianni Infantino recently confirmed that talks are underway regarding Ronaldo’s possible participation in the Club World Cup, which kicks off in the United States on June 14. Clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, Juventus, and Sporting Lisbon — all former homes of Ronaldo — will be part of the tournament, adding further intrigue to where the legendary forward might go next.
