Veteran legspinner Graeme Cremer has been recalled to the Zimbabwe squad for the upcoming T20I tri-series in Namibia. Cremer, who has been sidelined since the T20 World Cup Super Eights match against South Africa due to a left-arm injury, successfully recovered after missing the recent home series against Bangladesh and India.
Sikandar Raza will captain the 15-member squad, which features the addition of uncapped fast bowler Kundai Matigimu. The 28-year-old pacer has limited T20 experience with only 11 appearances, though he previously debuted for Zimbabwe in the Test format during last year’s one-off match against South Africa. Conversely, the team will be without Richard Ngarava and Tanaka Chivanga due to injuries. Ngarava is currently managing a lower back issue, while Chivanga is recovering from surgery following an achilles tendon injury.
The tournament format requires each of the three participating teams to play each other twice, with the top two sides advancing to the final. Zimbabwe is scheduled to open their campaign against South Africa on August 29, followed by a match against the host nation, Namibia, on August 31.
