Iga Swiatek stormed into the third round of the French Open women’s singles with a dominant 6-1, 6-2 victory over Britain’s Emma Raducanu. The former world No. 1 showed no mercy as she dismantled the 2021 US Open champion in just 1 hour and 19 minutes.
Swiatek, a four-time French Open champion, has remained unbeaten at Roland Garros since 2022 and played like a true title holder throughout the match. Although she committed three double faults, Raducanu was unable to capitalize on any of them.
From the outset, the match was one-sided. Swiatek broke Raducanu’s serve in the fourth game of the first set, setting the tone for the remainder of the match. She wrapped up the first set in 39 minutes and needed just 41 more to close out the second. Swiatek broke Raducanu’s serve twice in the second set — in the third and seventh games — to seal the comprehensive win.
Meanwhile, in men’s doubles, India’s Yuki Bhambri progressed to the second round alongside American partner Robert Galloway. The pair overcame Germany’s Hendrik Jebens and the Netherlands’ Robin Haase 6-3, 6-7 (8-10), 6-3.
India’s Rohan Bopanna and his Czech partner Adam Pavlásek also advanced, winning their first-round clash against Americans Robert Cash and J. Tracy with a 7-6 (8-6), 5-7, 6-1 scoreline.
