FIFA Club World Cup have Special Transfer Window

by Sports Desk

In a unique move ahead of the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup, world football’s governing body FIFA has announced the implementation of a special transfer window. The tournament, set to begin on June 14 in the United States, will be preceded by a dedicated registration period from June 1 to June 10.

This decision has been unanimously agreed upon by 20 member nations, whose clubs will compete in the expanded 32-team tournament. The special transfer window will allow participating clubs to sign new players during this period, giving them the best possible opportunity to build a competitive squad before the tournament kicks off.

FIFA stated that the objective of this initiative is to synchronize the registration process for the Club World Cup with the domestic football calendars of the participating countries. One of the key aims is to facilitate the inclusion of players whose contracts are set to expire around that time.

Notably, this special transfer window will not be limited to just the clubs competing in the Club World Cup. It will be applicable to all clubs within the 20 participating nations’ domestic leagues.

The 20 countries involved are: Argentina, Austria, Brazil, Egypt, England, France, Germany, Italy, Japan, South Korea, Mexico, Morocco, New Zealand, Portugal, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Tunisia, the United Arab Emirates, and the United States.

Additionally, FIFA has announced an in-competition transfer window, which will take place from June 27 to July 3, following the group stage. During this period, clubs will be allowed to make necessary squad adjustments based on their needs within the tournament.
