Travis Head will be unavailable for Sunrisers Hyderabad’s upcoming match against Lucknow Super Giants, as he has tested positive for COVID-19. As a result, he has not joined the team and will not travel to the match venue. This update was confirmed by SRH head coach Daniel Vettori.
Just a few years ago, COVID-19 infections were a common occurrence. But with the global situation now largely under control, such cases have become rare and are not frequently reported. Head’s infection has raised some curiosity given the current decline in publicized COVID-19 cases.
Speaking to the media, Vettori said, “Travis has tested positive for COVID-19, so he won’t be able to travel with the team. We’re hopeful that he’ll be available for the next game, but we’ll have to monitor his recovery and ensure he’s fully fit before returning to the field.”
Sunrisers Hyderabad, last season’s finalists, have already been eliminated from playoff contention and will now be playing for pride. On the other hand, for Rishabh Pant’s Delhi Capitals, it’s a must-win scenario. Even if they win all their remaining matches to reach 16 points, their qualification for the playoffs is still uncertain.
