Two-time major champion Jon Rahm is set to make his debut at the Abu Dhabi Aldar Championship, held at Yas Links from November 5-8. The tournament serves as the opening leg of the DP World Tour Play-Offs, featuring the top 70 available players from the Race to Dubai Rankings. From this field, the leading 50 competitors will advance to the season finale in Dubai the following week.
Rahm brings an impressive resume to the UAE capital, holding ten DP World Tour titles—a record shared with Ryder Cup teammate Tyrrell Hatton. The former world number one has found considerable success in the region, with three of his victories secured at the DP World Tour Championship in 2017, 2019, and 2022. Additionally, he claimed two Irish Open titles during 2017 and 2019. His 2022 triumph in Dubai notably marked him as the first Spanish player since Seve Ballesteros to lead the Race to Dubai Rankings.
Reflecting on his return to the UAE, Rahm noted, “I’ve had some of the best weeks of my career in the UAE, so I’m really looking forward to playing in Abu Dhabi for the first time.” The golfer, who has contributed 10.5 points to the European team across four Ryder Cup appearances, added that he is eager to experience the course at Yas Links before continuing his campaign in Dubai.
The event, organized by the Abu Dhabi Sports Council and the DP World Tour, showcases a competitive lineup. Rahm will compete alongside high-profile names, including US PGA Champion and defending tournament winner Aaron Rai, as well as six-time major winner Rory McIlroy, who aims to tie the record for most Race to Dubai title wins.
