Manchester City have officially completed the signing of 22-year-old Brazilian winger Allan Elias from Palmeiras. The forward has committed to a five-year contract, becoming the club’s sixth acquisition during the current summer transfer window. Reports indicate that the Premier League champions have agreed to a fee of approximately €40 million ($47 million) for the player, who developed through the Palmeiras academy and accumulated 96 first-team appearances for the Sao Paulo-based club.
City’s Director of Football, Hugo Viana, expressed his enthusiasm for the arrival in a statement released on Monday. He described Elias as an exciting prospect who will provide a significant boost to the squad, noting that the young winger has already demonstrated a strong drive to excel throughout his professional career. Elias joins a busy summer recruitment drive at the Etihad Stadium that has also seen the arrivals of Elliot Anderson, Geronimo Rulli, Ayyoub Bouaddi, Jeremy Monga, and Pierce Charles.
Reflecting on his move to England, the Florianopolis-born attacker admitted that joining such a decorated club was a surreal experience. He emphasized that City’s dominance over the past 15 years made them an incredibly attractive destination, adding that while he remains deeply fond of Palmeiras, the choice to join the Premier League side was straightforward. Elias expressed his ambition to become the latest successful Brazilian to thrive in the league, aiming to emulate the achievements of compatriots like Gabriel Jesus, Ederson, and Fernandinho, all of whom secured league titles during their time with the club. The report also notes that he has shown throughout his short career so far that he will fight to be the best he can be.
