Nitish Reddy Joins ODI Squad

India has finalized its squad for the upcoming home series against the West Indies, featuring both ODIs and T20Is. Shubman Gill will captain the ODI side, which includes senior stalwarts Rohit Sharma and Virat Kohli. KL Rahul takes over as vice-captain, stepping into the role previously held by Shreyas Iyer. Iyer, however, retains the leadership for the one-off T20I against Japan and the concurrent Asian Games campaign.

In a tactical squad adjustment, Nitish Kumar Reddy has been pulled from the Asian Games roster to bolster the ODI setup. The selectors have also handed maiden call-ups to Punjab batter Naman Dhir and bowler Auqib Nabi. Yashasvi Jaiswal returns to the ODI fold as the backup opening option. Notably, Rishabh Pant has been excluded from the one-day squad, with Dhruv Jurel selected as the secondary wicketkeeper; Pant is instead set to lead the Rest of India side in the Irani Cup.

The injury list has forced a late change for the Asian Games and the Japan fixture, with the BCCI confirming that Varun Chakaravarthy has been ruled out due to a side strain. Vipraj Nigam has been named as his replacement. Additionally, Yash Thakur has replaced Harshit Rana for the Asian Games.

The ODI squad includes Shubman Gill (C), Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Ruturaj Gaikwad, KL Rahul (VC), Dhruv Jurel, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja, Kuldeep Yadav, Prasidh Krishna, Gurnoor Brar, Mohammed Siraj, Auqib Nabi, Yashasvi Jaiswal, and Naman Dhir. Following the conclusion of the ODIs, the T20I series will see the return of Iyer alongside regular T20I personnel, who will rejoin the squad following their Asian Games commitments.

The T20I team facing the West Indies features Shreyas Iyer (C), Abhishek Sharma, Vaibhav Sooryavanshi, Ishan Kishan (WK), Sanju Samson (WK), Tilak Varma (VC), Shivam Dube, Kuldeep Yadav, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Ravi Bishnoi, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Arshdeep Singh, Prince Yadav, and Mayank Yadav.
