Reflecting on the team’s trajectory, Pybus emphasized the importance of squad depth and the necessity of building a side capable of competing in all conditions worldwide. We’re looking to build a side which can adapt to different conditions. “When we sit and plan as a team for guys to take responsibility for their position in the team, I think we saw it in Ireland and we’ve seen it again in this series where guys are really getting stuck into their work.

Addressing the team’s development, Pybus pointed out the need for more consistent opportunities against major full-member nations to ensure continued growth. He acknowledged that while Bangladesh remains a dangerous opponent and Zimbabwe displayed strong performances, the current success is a testament to the hard work of his players. He stressed that the side is currently in a very positive place as they work toward refining their performance across varied international environments. Even as there is a desire for increased opportunities against the world’s best sides, pybus heaped further praise on how the players turned up and put their best foot forward in the tri-series.

Rahmat Shah’s captaincy also earned significant praise from the head coach. Pybus highlighted Rahmat’s quiet authority and his inclusive approach, which encourages active participation from all teammates during planning and field sessions. Beyond his leadership style, Rahmat has been exceptionally consistent with the bat. Pybus recalled Rahmat’s phenomenal contributions during the preceding Test match, noting that his stellar performances in the fourth innings were overlooked amid broader team highlights.

Rahmat currently boasts an undefeated record as ODI captain, having taken over leadership duties from Hashmatullah Shahidi. Under his guidance, the team has achieved seven consecutive victories in the format. While Pybus cautioned that success may not always remain this seamless, he expressed full confidence that Rahmat will continue to lead the side in a highly positive and inspiring manner, marking a promising beginning to his tenure as skipper.
