Tickets for the upcoming Ashes series were snapped up at a record pace on Tuesday, with allocations for the first three days of the Brisbane and Sydney Tests, as well as day one in Melbourne, selling out within hours.
Cricket Australia (CA) announced that a staggering 311,066 tickets were sold in a single day for international matches in the 2025–26 home season, which includes a five-Test Ashes series where Australia will look to defend the urn against England.
The figure smashed the previous single-day sales record of 111,741 set ahead of the 2017–18 Ashes series.
“The record demand for tickets shows the excitement fans are feeling about the fantastic international season to come,” said CA chief executive Todd Greenberg.
Australia last won the Ashes at home in dominant fashion in both 2017–18 and 2021–22 with 4-0 scorelines, and retained the urn after a 2-2 draw in England in 2023. England’s last series win on Australian soil came in 2010–11, which also marked their most recent Test victory Down Under.
The 2025–26 Ashes series will kick off in Perth in late November, followed by a day-night Test in Brisbane, the third Test in Adelaide, and the traditional Boxing Day and New Year’s Tests in Melbourne and Sydney.
Additional ticket batches will be released for fans who registered for pre-allocation, while general public sales will open on June 13.
Before the Ashes, Australia will host South Africa and India in T20 and ODI series. The women’s team will also play India in all three formats in February and March.
