Egyptian forward Omar Marmoush grabbed a brace as Manchester City came from behind to beat Atletico Madrid 3-1 in their final preseason friendly at the Seoul World Cup stadium in South Korea. Atletico took the lead late in the first half when Jorge Dominguez poked in the opener after City failed to clear a corner.
City, led by new manager Enzo Maresca, had dominated early proceedings, but Tijjani Reijnders, Josko Gvardiol, and Savinho all missed significant chances to score before the break. The pressure finally paid off in the 57th minute when Antoine Semenyo beat his marker to deliver a cross for Marmoush to convert from close range.
The duo combined again just two minutes later, with Marmoush latching onto another Semenyo cross to give City the lead. Atletico, who handed a debut to new signing Lee Kang-In, attempted to respond as they rotated their squad in the second half, but City remained composed.
The victory was sealed in the 90th minute when Rayan Ait-Nouri was sent clear to finish past substitute goalkeeper Carlos Esquivel. City will next face Arsenal in the Community Shield at Wembley next Sunday, while Atletico begin their La Liga campaign at home against Malaga on August 19.
