The historic Test victory against Australia in Darwin has left a significant mark on the latest ICC Test rankings, with several Bangladeshi cricketers seeing improvements across both batting and bowling departments. Captain Najmul Hossain Shanto, who played a pivotal 84-run innings in the first innings, climbed nine spots to reach 20th place in the batting rankings. This achievement marks his first time in the top 20 during his nine-year Test career, bolstered by a career-best rating of 659 points.
Young opener Tanzid Hasan, who garnered attention by scoring a century in only his second career Test match, made an extraordinary leap of 84 places to reach 88th in the rankings. Meanwhile, Mominul Haque, who contributed 49 and an unbeaten 30 across two innings, moved up five spots to 31st. Shadman Islam also saw progress, climbing three places to 58th, while Mehidy Hasan Miraz advanced five spots to 59th following his resilient 65-run knock. Conversely, Litton Das slipped five places to 28th after a duck, leaving Mushfiqur Rahim as the highest-ranked Bangladeshi batter at 18th.
In the bowling department, Hasan Mahmud recorded the most significant jump. The pacer, who was named Player of the Match for his nine-wicket haul in Darwin, surged 26 places to reach 38th with a career-best rating of 503 points. Mehidy Hasan Miraz also improved his standing, moving up three spots to 24th after claiming five wickets in the second innings. Taijul Islam maintained his 11th position, while Taskin Ahmed climbed one spot to 49th after taking three wickets. Nahid Rana, however, dropped one place to 60th.
Regarding the all-rounder rankings, Mehidy Hasan Miraz retained his third-place position, with his rating increasing to 320. The list continues to be led by India’s Ravindra Jadeja, who holds the top spot with 446 points.
