A five-member delegation from the Brazilian Football Confederation (CBF) has made an unexpected visit to Dhaka, sparking speculation about a potential match involving the Brazilian national team. The visit is primarily focused on evaluating Bangladesh as a neutral venue for future matches or exploring the possibility of a friendly against the Bangladesh national team.
Upon arriving on Sunday afternoon, the delegation proceeded directly to the Bangabandhu National Stadium. During an inspection lasting over thirty minutes, they closely examined the pitch, dressing rooms, press box, gallery, and dugout. The team was accompanied by Bangladesh Football Federation (BFF) officials, including Grounds Committee Chairman Iqbal Hossain and General Secretary Imran Hossain Tushar.
Following the inspection, Iqbal Hossain confirmed that the CBF representatives expressed interest in utilizing Bangladesh as a neutral venue and showed a positive attitude toward a potential friendly match against the host nation. The delegation intends to submit a detailed report on the stadium’s facilities and overall environment to their federation, which may lead to further visits if the venue meets their requirements.
The Brazilian team is currently scheduled to play two international matches in Australia on September 25 and 29. There is a possibility that the squad could stop in Dhaka on September 30 or October 1 for a training session while en route to India for a friendly match. Whether this potential visit remains limited to training or evolves into a full-scale match against Bangladesh will be determined following final discussions between the CBF and the BFF.
The administrative delegation is also scheduled to hold a formal meeting with BFF President Tabith Awal before concluding their visit to the country.
