Bangladesh has named 17-year-old uncapped bowling all-rounder Farjana Easmin as a replacement for left-arm pacer Fariha Islam Trishna in the national squad. Trishna, 23, has been ruled out of the upcoming Women’s Asia Cup 2026 in Dubai and the 20th Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, Japan, after an MRI scan confirmed a Grade II tear in her right thigh. The injury is expected to keep the pacer sidelined for a recovery period of four to six weeks.
Farjana, a right-arm seamer, earned her spot following strong performances in recent intra-squad matches. Nasiruddin Faruque, the women’s batting coach and former head of the Bangladesh Emerging squad, praised the teenager’s versatility. He noted that Farjana possesses a natural slower ball and various bowling variations, while also offering useful contributions as a lower-order batter.
The national team is scheduled to depart for Dubai on Wednesday afternoon, August 26, to begin their campaign. Farjana’s inclusion comes as the team looks to maintain its competitive edge during these major upcoming international tournaments.
