The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) has confirmed the leadership roles for the India A women’s team ahead of their multi-format series against Australia A, scheduled for September and October. Anushka Sharma will captain the T20 squad, while Yastika Bhatia has been appointed to lead the side in the three one-day matches and the standalone four-day fixture.
Anushka, who made her T20I debut in April, previously captained the India A side during the England T20 series in June. Her T20 squad includes 22-year-old Bengal batter Sujata Dey, who made headlines in June by becoming the first woman to score a century in the Bengal T20 League. The T20 matches are set to be hosted in New Chandigarh.
For the one-day and four-day formats, Yastika Bhatia will take the helm, with Anushka serving as her deputy. Yastika returned to the national setup in May and recently participated in the historic Lord’s Test, where she scored a century in the second innings. The one-dayers and the four-day match will be contested in Dharamsala. Additionally, Shubha Satheesh, Sushree Dibyadarshini, Shuchi Upadhyay, and Mamata Madiwala have been specifically selected to bolster the squad for the four-day red-ball encounter.
The T20 squad features Anushka Sharma (C), Sayali Satghare (VC), Vrinda Dinesh, Sujata Dey, Tejal Hasabnis, Nikki Prasad, Shipra Giri (WK), Shweta Sehrawat, Uma Chetry (WK), Tanuja Kanwer, Minnu Mani, Vaishnavi Sharma, Jintimani Kalita, Shabnam Shakeel, and Simran Dil Bahadur. The one-day squad includes Yastika Bhatia (C/WK), Anushka Sharma (VC), Vrinda Dinesh, Priya Punia, Tanisha Singh, Tejal Hasabnis, Nikki Prasad, Uma Chetry (WK), Minnu Mani, Amandeep Kaur, Vaishnavi Sharma, Sayali Satghare, Jintimani Kalita, Shabnam Shakeel, and Akshita Bhagat. The four-day squad consists of Yastika Bhatia (C/WK), Anushka Sharma (VC), Shubha Satheesh, Priya Punia, Tanisha Singh, Tejal Hasabnis, Nikki Prasad, Mamata Madiwala (WK), Sushree Dibyadarshini, Shuchi Upadhyay, Vaishnavi Sharma, Sayali Satghare, Jintimani Kalita, Shabnam Shakeel, and Akshita Bhagat.
