While the French champions had managed to salvage draws in their previous two outings after trailing 2-0, they were unable to recover on this occasion. Despite taking an early lead through Marquinhos in the 31st minute, PSG could not maintain their momentum as the visitors staged a second-half comeback.
Monaco leveled the score in the 58th minute when Flavio Nazinho found the back of the net. The momentum shifted entirely in favor of the visitors in the 72nd minute, when Staniss Idumbo scored to secure the lead. PSG failed to find an equalizer in the closing stages, marking their first loss of the campaign.
The defeat coincides with a period of significant administrative activity for the club. PSG recently announced contract extensions for five players: Joao Neves, Lucas Beraldo, Senny Mayulu, and Willian Pacho have all committed to the club until 2031, while Fabian Ruiz has signed a new deal running through 2028.
Following this result, PSG finds itself in a difficult position, sitting 12th in the Ligue 1 table with only two points from three matches. In contrast, Monaco has enjoyed a flawless start to the season, currently leading the league with nine points from three consecutive victories. Lyon and Lille follow closely behind in the standings, each holding seven points.
