Emphasizing a zero-tolerance policy toward corruption, the franchise announced plans to pursue appropriate measures to investigate the matter thoroughly ahead of an upcoming board meeting scheduled in the next couple of days.
An investigative report by the Tehelka website alleged that a CSK player supplied confidential details to a former first-class cricketer based in Delhi, who subsequently passed the information to London-based bookmakers. The player involved, who has played six first-class matches, reportedly told an undercover investigator that leaking information yielded Rs 3 crore.
A team official confirmed that the upcoming Annual General Meeting on September 25 will be preceded by board discussions regarding the issue, while noting that current details remain unverified. The individual speaking on condition of anonymity added that the player claimed potential access to 2026 Indian Premier League information depending on auction results, quoting Rs 1 crore with a ninety percent guarantee for match-fixing assistance.
The investigation also indicated that the source would leak details concerning a Delhi Premier League team, with data aligning with an August 3 match from the recent tournament. Meanwhile, the Delhi and District Cricket Association described the findings as unverified and unsubstantiated while seeking guidance from appropriate authorities, as the franchise previously served a two-year ban following illegal betting involvement by a promoter group member. The report also notes that who sold the details to London-based bookmakers in exchange for Rs 60 lakh, a recent expose by the Tehelka website alleged that a CSK player was providing classified information to a Delhi-based former first-class player.
