The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced the comprehensive schedule for the 2027 ODI World Cup, which will be co-hosted by South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Namibia. Bangladesh has been placed in Group B for this major tournament, where they will compete alongside powerhouses like England, New Zealand, Sri Lanka, and host nation South Africa, as well as one team advancing from the Super Series qualifiers.
The main tournament is set to kick off on October 7 in Cape Town with a high-profile match between Australia and India. Bangladesh will start their mission the very next day, October 8, in a challenging opening fixture against England. One of the most anticipated matches of the group stage, the clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan, is scheduled to take place on October 10 in Johannesburg. Group A includes India, Australia, Pakistan, Afghanistan, Zimbabwe, and another team from the Super Series.
Before the main groups begin, a new ‘Super Series’ format featuring three teams will be held on October 2, 4, and 6 to determine the final spots in the main draw. The entire tournament, consisting of 57 matches across 14 teams, officially starts with these qualifying matches on October 2, 2027, and will conclude with the final on November 21. This event marks the return of the Men’s ODI World Cup to African soil after a 24-year hiatus.
A total of 12 venues will host the matches: eight in South Africa, three in Zimbabwe, and one in Namibia. The revamped structure aims to provide a competitive platform for the 14 participating nations as they vie for cricket’s most prestigious one-day trophy over the nearly two-month-long competition.
