Jurgen Klopp has yet to secure a victory in his first four matches at the helm of the German national team. In their latest UEFA Nations League outing on Sunday, Germany was held to a 0-0 draw away against Greece, leaving them in third place in Group A-2 with five points from four games.
Despite dominating ball possession and maintaining consistent offensive pressure, Germany struggled to convert opportunities into goals. The match began with a scare for the visitors in the second minute when Greece’s Giorgos Masouras found himself clear on goal, only to be denied by an impressive save from goalkeeper Jonas Urbig.
Germany gradually took control of the midfield, forcing the Greek defense into deep retreat. Their efforts appeared to pay off in the 34th minute when Jonathan Burkardt put the ball in the net, but the effort was overturned by the Video Assistant Referee (VAR) due to a foul committed at the start of the attacking play.
The second half saw Germany maintain their pursuit of a breakthrough, yet they remained unable to dismantle the resilient Greek defensive block. While the hosts occasionally threatened through counter-attacks, Urbig remained vigilant in goal to keep the scoreline level.
With only five points collected from four rounds, Germany currently sits behind leaders Netherlands and Greece, both of whom have eight points. Serbia remains at the bottom of the group without a win. Looking ahead, Klopp’s side faces a difficult road to the quarter-finals, needing significantly improved performances in their remaining matches against Serbia and the Netherlands to keep their tournament hopes alive.
