The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) is looking to strengthen its coaching staff ahead of the upcoming ODI World Cup. Following the recent appointment of South African Malibongwe Maketa as the national team’s assistant coach, the board is now in discussions to bring in an additional consultant.

The tournament is set to be hosted by Zimbabwe, Namibia, and South Africa, with the majority of matches scheduled to take place in South Africa. Given these venue logistics, the BCB aims to recruit a consultant with specific expertise in South African conditions to assist the team throughout the competition.

Asif Rabbani, chairman of the BCB media committee, confirmed the ongoing negotiations. He stated that the board intends to hire someone with local experience, although no final agreement has been reached yet. He noted that the board is currently in contact with several potential candidates for this role.

The proposed appointment is intended specifically for the duration of the ODI World Cup, with the board planning to sign the individual on a short-term contract.
