The Bangladesh U-17 women’s national football team saw their Asian Cup qualification hopes dashed after falling 3-0 to the Philippines in their final group match. Playing on Sunday at the Dustlik Stadium practice ground in Tashkent, Uzbekistan, Saiful Bari Titu’s side put up a resilient performance for 73 minutes before ultimately succumbing to the stronger opposition. The loss left Bangladesh in second place in Group H with three points, while the Philippines advanced to the main tournament as group winners with a perfect six-point record.

Throughout the early stages, the Bangladeshi defense faced significant pressure. Goalkeeper Meghla Rani Roy kept her side in the contest early on, diving to deny a long-range effort in the 16th minute and successfully saving another attempt from close range seven minutes later. As the half progressed, Bangladesh found their rhythm, nearly taking the lead in the 43rd minute when Mousumi headed a cross narrowly wide of the post. Just before the interval, Alpi Akter’s strike hit the crossbar, denying the team a crucial breakthrough.

The defensive resistance finally broke in the 73rd minute when an attempted clearance from a cross on the left flank fell to Maya Rose Buscara, who slotted the ball into the net. Desperate to find an equalizer, the Bangladeshi players pushed forward, which left gaps at the back that the Philippines exploited. Noelle Gransar capitalized on the situation by scoring twice in the closing stages, stretching the final margin to 3-0 and confirming Bangladesh’s exit from the qualifying campaign.

Entering the match, the scenario was clear: only a victory would secure a ticket to the main event. Bangladesh had previously defeated tournament hosts Uzbekistan 2-1 in their opening qualifier, while the Philippines had overcome the same opponents with a convincing 4-0 win. Despite their earlier success, the young squad was unable to replicate that performance against the Philippines, ending their journey in Uzbekistan with three points.
