The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has launched a new 50-over tournament to bolster the national team’s talent pipeline. The competition will feature three youth squads: Bangladesh Under-17, Under-19, and Under-23. By gathering these promising cricketers, the board aims to provide competitive match experience and allow selectors to evaluate performance in a structured environment.
Tournament Schedule and Format
- The tournament begins on August 28 at the Sher-e-Bangla National Cricket Stadium in Mirpur.
- The opening match features the Under-17 team against the Under-19 side.
- Following a one-day break, the Under-19 and Under-23 squads will face off on August 30.
- The competition follows a double round-robin format, with each team playing four matches in the league stage.
- The top two teams in the points table will advance to the final, scheduled for September 9.
Every match is slated to start at 9:30 AM. Hosting all fixtures at the same venue will allow selectors to monitor the progress of young players more effectively. This initiative marks a significant effort by the BCB to increase competitive opportunities for developing cricketers as part of the long-term national team preparation process.
