The Bangladesh women’s football team endured a challenging outing at the Asian Games, suffering a comprehensive 10-0 loss to North Korea at Nagai Stadium. Peter Butler’s squad struggled to contain their opponents, failing to register a single goal throughout the duration of the match.
North Korea asserted dominance early on, with Jon Ryong Jong opening the scoring in the 5th minute and doubling the lead just five minutes later. The pressure continued as Hwang Yu Yong added a third in the 12th minute. By the 18th minute, Chae Un Yong extended the lead further, and she found the net again in the 35th minute. The onslaught continued before halftime, with Kim Kyong Yong netting twice in the 40th and 43rd minutes, while Ri Song A added another in the 51st minute, leaving Bangladesh trailing 7-0 at the interval.
The second half saw no reprieve for the Bangladeshi defense. Jong Kum pushed the score to 8-0 in the 60th minute, and Han Jin Hong finalized the 10-0 scoreline with a goal in the 90th minute. Following this result, the Bangladesh team must now shift their focus to their upcoming match against South Korea in the tournament.
