CSA revises schedule to include three T20Is for India women’s tour

Cricket South Africa (CSA) announced a revised schedule on Thursday, August 6, confirming that the Indian women’s team will play three T20 Internationals in addition to the previously planned three ODIs and a one-off Test match. This expansion is strategically designed to provide the Proteas Women with high-level preparation ahead of the inaugural ICC Women’s Champions Trophy, set to be held in Sri Lanka next February.

The original itinerary had India beginning with a three-match ODI series on December 9, followed by a Test at St. George’s Park in Gqeberha on December 20. Under the updated plan, the tour will now commence with the Test match at St. George’s Park on December 12. Following the red-ball fixture, the teams will transition to the white-ball leg, featuring three ODIs hosted in Paarl, Cape Town, and Bloemfontein.

The final leg of the tour will consist of the three T20Is. The series begins with a fixture on Boxing Day in Benoni, followed by the final two matches on consecutive days, December 29 and 30, in Potchefstroom. CSA CEO Pholetsi Moseki expressed delight in confirming the schedule, noting that competing against a strong Indian side across all three formats provides invaluable preparation for upcoming ICC events.

India previously toured South Africa in April for a five-match T20I series, which the hosts won 4-1. Furthermore, India suffered a defeat to South Africa during their T20 World Cup clash in Manchester, leading to an early group-stage exit, while South Africa eventually bowed out to runners-up England in the tournament semifinals.
