Declan Rice is reportedly nearing an agreement on a new long-term contract with Arsenal. The 27-year-old midfielder, who became an integral part of the squad following his £105m transfer from West Ham in July 2023, is currently tied to the club until the end of next season. Negotiations have reached an advanced stage, building upon initial discussions that were first revealed earlier this year.
The updated deal is expected to provide a substantial pay rise for the England international. His current salary of approximately £240,000 per week will likely be elevated to match club-mate Bukayo Saka, who is understood to earn around £350,000 weekly. This financial commitment reflects Rice’s impact, having made 165 appearances for the Gunners and playing a pivotal role in ending the club’s 22-year Premier League title drought last season. According to rice would receive a significant increase to his, £240,000-per-week salary, putting him on a par with the club’s best earner Bukayo Saka, who is believed to be paid about £350,000 a week.
Internationally, Rice has secured 80 caps since committing to England in 2019 after previously representing the Republic of Ireland. Although he recently withdrew from Thomas Tuchel’s latest squad, the England manager has frequently praised him, labeling the midfielder as one of the best in Europe.
Looking ahead, Rice is expected to feature in Arsenal’s upcoming Premier League clash against Leeds on Saturday at 12:30 BST. This contract update follows the announcement on Wednesday that manager Mikel Arteta has committed his future to the reigning champions by signing a new four-year deal.
