Bangladeshi fast bowler Hasan Mahmud delivered a stellar performance in his County Championship debut, spearheading Kent to an 84-run victory against Worcestershire. Across both innings, the pacer claimed seven wickets for a total of 119 runs, proving instrumental in his team’s success.
Worcestershire appeared to be in contention while chasing a target of 380, reaching 265 for 5 at one stage. However, they suffered a dramatic collapse, losing their final five wickets for just 30 runs. Despite Brett D’Oliveira’s unbeaten 103, the visitors could not overcome the pressure. Hasan played a pivotal role in the second innings, breaking a dangerous partnership by dismissing Henry Cullen for 45 and later trapping Ben Allison lbw with the new ball.
Hasan finished the match with three wickets in the second innings to complement his four-wicket haul from the first. He was well-supported by Matt Milnes, who also claimed three wickets, and Keith Dudgeon, who took four. This result strengthens Kent’s position in the County Championship Division Two, moving them 15 points clear of third-placed Northamptonshire.
