Manchester City midfielder Tijjani Reijnders is poised to leave the club after a £52m deal was finalized with Saudi Pro-League outfit Al-Qadsiah. The Dutch international, who arrived from AC Milan last summer for £46.5m, is now expected to finalize his move to the side currently managed by former Liverpool, Celtic, and Leicester boss Brendan Rodgers.
The 28-year-old was notably absent from City’s primary training session on Thursday as negotiations progressed. Reijnders experienced a challenging tenure at the Etihad, struggling to maintain momentum after a promising start. During what proved to be Pep Guardiola’s final season at the helm, the midfielder recorded seven goals across 47 appearances in all competitions.
Reijnders’ departure appears to be a central component of a broader restructuring of Manchester City’s midfield. The club is currently navigating significant uncertainty regarding the future of Rodri, the 2026 World Cup player of the tournament, while simultaneously monitoring Chelsea’s Argentine international Enzo Fernandez.
The midfielder’s international profile remains strong, having represented the Netherlands during the 2026 World Cup. Reijnders made three appearances throughout the tournament, starting in group stage matches against Japan, Sweden, and Tunisia. However, he was sidelined for the last 32 clash against Morocco, a match in which the Dutch were ultimately eliminated following a penalty shootout.
