Bangladesh suffered a significant setback ahead of their opening cricket match at the Asian Games, as batter Najmul Hossain Shanto has been officially ruled out of the tournament. The decision follows his sudden illness, which prevented him from attending the team’s scheduled practice session in Nagoya, Japan today.
Medical professionals, including the Bangladesh contingent doctor, the BCB physiotherapist, and local medical staff, evaluated his condition and recommended his immediate withdrawal from the tournament. Shanto is scheduled to return to Bangladesh tomorrow. Major Imroz Ahmed, the Chef de Mission of the Bangladesh Olympic Association, expressed his wishes for the player’s swift recovery and safe travels.
Before departing for the Games, Shanto had dealt with a minor injury to the little toe on his left foot. However, team management had previously confirmed that the injury had fully healed before the squad left for Japan.
