BCB Shares Rishad and Nahid’s Update

Bangladeshi cricketers Nahid Rana and Rishad Hossain are currently in Pakistan participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL). Due to rising security concerns in the region, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has been in constant contact to ensure their safety.

The PSL has already been relocated to the United Arab Emirates (UAE) due to the tense situation. Nahid and Rishad are also scheduled to fly to the UAE tonight. BCB President Faruque Ahmed confirmed this in a video message.

He stated, “The situation that has developed between the two neighbouring countries since Tuesday has raised serious concerns for us. As you know, two of our national players are currently playing in a franchise league in Pakistan. From the moment we received the initial reports, our cricket operations department, through Shahriar Nafees, has been in continuous contact. I reached out to the PSL CEO and spoke to him over the phone.”

“I’ve also messaged the PCB Chairman. We’ve stayed in regular communication. All foreign players, including ours, were gathered in one place for safety. Everyone was working together to find a solution. It was decided that efforts would be made to relocate them to a safer location today. We’ve also been in contact with the Bangladesh High Commission,” he added.

In addition to the two cricketers, the BCB is also working to ensure the safety of two Bangladeshi sports journalists who are in Pakistan covering the PSL. They will be moved to the UAE alongside the players.

Faruque further said, “We’ve spoken to both of the journalists. I’ve personally submitted their names to the board, asking that they be included in the relocation plans. They are there in a professional capacity, and the BCB believes we also have a responsibility to ensure their safety. We’re trying to make sure they travel together with the players to a secure location.”
