Miraz Picked in PSL, Needs Approval

by Sports Desk

It was a notable day for Bangladeshi cricket, as two of the country’s top stars were seen in action across two major franchise leagues—IPL and PSL. Mustafizur Rahman was urgently called back to the Delhi Capitals squad in the Indian Premier League after a two-season gap. Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan made his debut for Lahore Qalandars in the Pakistan Super League.

But the involvement of Bangladeshi players in franchise cricket doesn’t end there. The latest name to receive a call-up is experienced all-rounder Mehidy Hasan Miraz. Lahore Qalandars, the two-time PSL champions, have approached Miraz following their recent signings of Rishad Hossain and Shakib Al Hasan.

According to a source from the BCB’s Cricket Operations, who spoke to Dhaka Post, Miraz has already applied for a No Objection Certificate (NOC) to participate in the PSL. However, the timing of the approval is still uncertain. If granted, this would mark Miraz’s first-ever appearance in any franchise T20 league.

It is believed that Lahore Qalandars are eyeing Miraz as a potential replacement for their Zimbabwean star Sikandar Raza, who is expected to leave the PSL soon to join Zimbabwe’s Test squad for a match against England.

Meanwhile, Shakib Al Hasan made his PSL debut yesterday for Lahore Qalandars in a match against Peshawar Zalmi. However, it was a forgettable outing for the veteran all-rounder—he was dismissed for a golden duck and conceded 18 runs in 2 overs with the ball. Despite his underwhelming performance, Lahore managed to win the game, securing their place in the PSL playoffs this season.
