Pakistan Advised to Rethink Border Venues

by Sports Desk

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has confirmed that the national team will tour Pakistan for a five-match T20I series from May 25 to June 3, 2025. This series replaces the previously scheduled three ODIs and three T20Is under the Future Tours Programme (FTP), with the ODIs being swapped for two additional T20Is in light of the upcoming ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2026 .

The matches are set to be played in Faisalabad and Lahore, with the first two T20Is scheduled at Iqbal Stadium in Faisalabad on May 25 and 27, and the remaining three at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore on May 30, June 1, and June 3 . The Bangladesh team is expected to arrive in Pakistan on May 21 and will undergo training sessions at Iqbal Stadium from May 22 to 24 .

However, recent geopolitical tensions between India and Pakistan have raised security concerns. The Bangladesh government, through Youth and Sports Adviser Asif Mahmud Sajeeb Bhuiyan, has stated that while the Bangladesh Cricket Board sought a No Objection Certificate (NOC) for the tour, the final decision will be based on security assessments. The government has advised the BCB to avoid venues near the border and is in communication with the Pakistan Cricket Board to ensure the safety of the team .

The BCB is actively monitoring the situation and prioritizing the safety of players and support staff. While the tour is currently scheduled, the final decision will depend on the evolving security situation in the region.
