Shakib-Miraz Face Whom in PSL?

by Sports Desk

The league stage of the Pakistan Super League (PSL) concluded with a commanding 79-run victory by Islamabad United over Karachi Kings. With this dominant win, Islamabad secured a spot among the top two teams in the league standings and confirmed their place in the playoffs.

This season’s PSL playoffs will feature Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United, Karachi Kings, and Lahore Qalandars. Notably, for the first time in PSL history, Peshawar Zalmi failed to qualify for the playoffs. Meanwhile, Multan Sultans exited the tournament early, suffering the most losses in a single season.

In the first qualifier on May 21, the top two teams—Quetta Gladiators and Islamabad United—will face off. The following day, May 22, the Eliminator match will feature Lahore Qalandars, led by Shakib Al Hasan and Mehidy Hasan Miraz, against Karachi Kings.

Shakib Al Hasan made his PSL debut for Lahore in their last match. Despite a modest personal performance, his team clinched victory and secured a playoff spot. Following that success, Lahore added Mehidy Hasan Miraz to their squad.

If Lahore wins against Karachi on May 22, they will advance to the second qualifier on May 23, where they will face the loser of the Quetta vs. Islamabad match. A victory there would take Lahore to the final on May 25.
