The PGA Tour has no intention of establishing an expedited return pathway for LIV Golf players following the breakaway league’s recent bankruptcy filing. Despite uncertainty surrounding the futures of major champions including Jon Rahm, Bryson DeChambeau, and Cameron Smith, Tour leadership remains firm on its current stance.
PGA Tour chief executive Brian Rolapp stated, “In terms of where we are today, we are not currently contemplating a returning member program like the one you saw in January.” While the organization continues to prepare for its 2028 operational overhaul, Rolapp provided no assurances that prominent LIV defectors would find an open door back to the Tour.
Jon Rahm, currently competing at the BMW PGA Championship at Wentworth, expressed uncertainty regarding his professional trajectory. “There’s a long legal process they have to go through before a lot of things fall into place,” the Spaniard remarked. “I really can’t give you an answer right now.”
Earlier this year, a repatriation agreement allowed players like Brooks Koepka to rejoin the US circuit. However, that specific framework was previously declined by top stars such as DeChambeau, Rahm, and Smith. As LIV Golf navigates its financial restructuring and attempts to forge a new circuit for next year, these elite athletes remain in a period of transition with no clear path back to their former tour. The report also notes that rahm said he was uncertain about his future plans.
