Cricket West Indies (CWI) has announced that head coach Shane Deitz has stepped down from his position following a three-year stint with the national women’s team. The decision to part ways was reached by mutual agreement after his contract officially expired on October 31, 2026. And we agreed together that a clean handover now was best for the team, he told us of his plans.
Reflecting on the tenure, CWI Director of Cricket Miles Bascombe credited Deitz for elevating the squad’s competitive level, noting that guiding the team to back-to-back semi-finals in the 2024 and 2026 ICC Women’s T20 World Cups has established a new performance benchmark. Bascombe added that the board accepted Deitz’s future plans and prioritized a seamless transition for the players.
To maintain stability for the upcoming series against Pakistan, former West Indies men’s Test head coach Andre Coley has been appointed as the interim lead. Bascombe praised Coley’s extensive experience within the West Indies cricket structure, highlighting his recent work with the Men’s A-Team. Coley is set to collaborate with the existing support staff to ensure the team’s preparations remain uninterrupted. We appreciate his willingness to take on this assignment and ensure that preparation for Pakistan carries on without interruption.”.
