Tottenham Hotspur have completed the signing of Brazilian international Savinho from Manchester City, a move that pushes the club’s total summer expenditure beyond £300 million ($409m). The 22-year-old winger joins a squad undergoing a significant overhaul under manager Roberto De Zerbi following a difficult campaign that saw the North London side narrowly avoid relegation with a 17th-place finish.
While the clubs did not officially disclose contract terms, British media outlets have valued the transfer at £75 million ($102.2m), with an additional £10 million ($13.63m) in potential add-ons. Including these performance-related clauses, Tottenham’s total investment in the transfer market this window reaches £322 million ($438.9m). De Zerbi praised the new arrival, stating, “[Savinho] is a player who brings energy, imagination and quality in wide positions. He has the courage to attack defenders and the ability to change a game with his creativity.”
Savinho’s career path began at Atletico Mineiro before he moved to Troyes in 2022. He gained prominence during a loan spell at Girona, where he netted 11 goals in 41 matches, helping the Spanish side secure a historic third-place finish and Champions League qualification in 2024. Since joining Manchester City that same year, he has made 84 appearances across all competitions, scoring seven goals and earning 13 caps for the Brazilian national team.
The winger is the latest high-profile addition to a busy Spurs squad that has already recruited Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes, Andy Robertson, Marcos Senesi, and Jan Paul van Hecke. Despite this influx of talent, the team opened their Premier League season with a 3-0 defeat to Brentford. Reports suggest the club remains active in the market, currently negotiating a potential deal for Manchester City’s Egyptian forward, Omar Marmoush. Tottenham look to bounce back in their upcoming League Cup second-round fixture against Charlton Athletic on Wednesday, followed by a Premier League clash with Newcastle United this Saturday.
