The UAE national karate teams concluded their participation in the 24th edition of the Asian Karate Championships for youth, juniors, and Under-21 athletes, held in the Jordanian capital, Amman. Demonstrating high-level competitive performances on the continental stage, the Emirati athletes secured an impressive haul of nine medals, consisting of two gold and seven bronze medals.
Gold and Bronze Medal Winners
The UAE delegation secured two gold medals. Karim Rami claimed gold in the Under-21 individual kata category, while Habiba Yasser took gold in the individual kumite under 48kg division. Yasser also won a bronze medal in the women’s individual kata event. Additionally, Razan Mahyoob secured two bronze medals, competing in both the junior girls’ individual kata and the junior girls’ individual kumite under 47kg events.
Junior Kumite Successes
- Khalifa Al Hajaj secured a bronze medal in the junior men’s individual kumite under 68kg category.
- Bakhit Ahmed claimed a bronze medal in the junior men’s individual kumite under 55kg category.
- Sultan Mohammed won a bronze medal in the junior boys’ individual kumite under 52kg event.
- Mohammed Al Kindi earned a bronze medal in the junior boys’ individual kumite under 61kg event.
Leadership Commendation
Major General (Ret.) Nasser Abdul Razzaq Al Razooqi, President of the UAE and Asian Karate Federations and Vice President of the International Karate Federation, attributed the achievement to the continuous support of the UAE’s wise leadership for the youth and sports sector. He extended his congratulations to the medalists and praised the efforts of the technical, administrative, and medical teams. Al Razooqi highlighted that winning nine medals aligns with the federation’s plans to build a pipeline of young talent for the senior national team, while also commending local clubs for their role in nurturing young athletes.
