Mercedes driver Kimi Antonelli set the fastest time during Friday practice for the Spanish Grand Prix in Madrid. British rookie Arvid Lindblad, currently 11th in the drivers’ championship, finished the session fourth fastest, trailing Antonelli by 0.228 seconds.

Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton were second and third, finishing just over 0.1 seconds behind Antonelli. Antonelli’s team-mate George Russell, who trails the Italian by 66 points in the championship, was fifth fastest ahead of Red Bull’s Max Verstappen and McLaren’s Oscar Piastri. World champion Lando Norris failed to set a time due to a gearbox issue with his McLaren. The report also notes that and slid sideways into the wall, damaging his front and rear suspension and breaking his front wing, the 19-year-old lost control into Turn 13.
