Indian Women’s Team Declines Asia Cup 2026 Trophy Presentation from ACC Chief Mohsin Naqvi

Following a dominant 72-run win over Sri Lanka at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium, the Indian women’s team secured a record-extending eighth Asia Cup title in 2026. However, the squad opted not to take the trophy from Asian Cricket Council (ACC) president Mohsin Naqvi, who also serves as Pakistan’s Federal Interior Minister.

Presentation Details

  • BCCI secretary Devajit Saikia and vice-president Rajiv Shukla presented a fielding medal to player Nandani Sharma on the sidelines.
  • While Saikia addressed and congratulated the team, the players did not step forward for the main trophy presentation.

This decision follows an established protocol previously set by the Indian men’s team, who similarly refused to accept their trophy from the ACC president after defeating Pakistan in the 2025 T20 Asia Cup final.
