UAE Karate Federation and Dubai Police Academy Strengthen Cooperation

A high-level delegation from the UAE Karate Federation, led by Major General (Ret.) Nasser Abdul Razzaq Al Razooqi, recently conducted an official visit to the Dubai Police Academy. Al Razooqi, who serves as the President of both the UAE and Asian Karate Federations and Vice President of the World Karate Federation, was received by Major General Badran Al Shamsi, the Assistant Commander-in-Chief for Academy and Training Affairs at Dubai Police. The primary objective of this engagement was to explore methods to enhance cooperation and identify mechanisms for the sustained growth of karate within the United Arab Emirates. Speaking on the occasion, Razooqi expressed his sincere thanks and appreciation to Dubai Police for the warm welcome and generous hospitality. The visit aimed to explore ways of strengthening cooperation in the field of karate and discuss mechanisms to support and further develop the sport in the UAE.

Discussions during the visit centered on leveraging the shared capabilities, expertise, and resources of both institutions. The dialogue focused on fostering a strategic partnership to support national sporting initiatives and ensuring the development of athletes and coaches meets the highest international benchmarks. Attendees from Dubai Police included Brigadier Ahmed Mirdas, Director of the General Department of Training; Brigadier Dr. Jassem Mohammed, Deputy Director of the Training Department; Major Ahmed Al Bahr, Director of the Sports Excellence Centre; and Captain Abdullah Jassim Al Muhairi, Head of the Sports Training Section. The delegation also featured International Referee Jaber Al Zaabi, who holds leadership roles within the UAE, Asian, and World Karate Federation referees committees.

The visiting group included key federation leadership, specifically Vice President Rashid Abdulmajid Al Ali, who also serves as an executive board member of the World Karate Federation; Vice President and engineer Marwan Sankal; and Executive Director Mohammed Abbas. Expressing his gratitude for the warm reception, Al Razooqi highlighted the academy’s vital contribution to the regional sporting landscape and underscored the necessity of the current partnership.

Major General Badran Al Shamsi reciprocated the sentiment, praising the federation for its active efforts in promoting the discipline across the nation. He emphasized that Dubai Police remains firmly committed to collaborating with various sporting organizations to bolster the UAE’s athletic movement. This dedication to institutional synergy was underscored by the exchange of commemorative shields between the two leaders at the conclusion of the meeting.

In recognition of their sustained support and commitment to the growth of karate in the region, the UAE Karate Federation honored Major General Badran Al Shamsi and Brigadier Ahmed Mirdas by presenting them with honorary 7th Dan black belt certificates.
