Foreign PSL Cricketers Under Army Protection

by Sports Desk

Despite the ongoing military tensions between India and Pakistan, foreign players participating in the Pakistan Super League (PSL) have opted to stay in the country. According to the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), the Pakistan Army is ensuring their safety with strict security arrangements.

PCB spokesperson Aamir Mir stated that, in light of the recent escalation, foreign players held an informal meeting with PSL Chief Executive Salman Naseer during a dinner, where the current security situation was discussed.

“Foreign players are not leaving the country at the moment, partly because air travel has been temporarily suspended,” Aamir Mir explained. “They are currently under the protection of military security.”

The PCB hopes the current tensions will not impact the remainder of the PSL season. However, if the situation deteriorates further, all stakeholders will convene to decide the next steps.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) confirmed that they are closely monitoring the safety of Bangladeshi players in Pakistan. BCB officials remain in regular contact with the PCB and the Bangladesh High Commission in Islamabad.

“We are still assessing the situation,” said BCB President Faruque Ahmed. “A final decision regarding our players will be made after a few more days of observation.”

In addition, the England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) and New Zealand Cricket have also adopted a cautious approach, issuing necessary guidelines to ensure the safety of their respective players.
