Scottie Scheffler Dominates St Jude Championship with Eight-Stroke Victory

World number one Scottie Scheffler ended a months-long drought with a commanding performance at the St Jude Championship in Memphis, Tennessee. By shooting a final-round 4-under-par 66 on Sunday, the American extended his lead in the FedEx Cup playoffs and secured his 21st career PGA Tour victory. His total of 17-under 263 left him eight strokes ahead of runner-up Si Woo Kim of South Korea, who closed with a 68.

The victory at TPC Southwind marked the largest winning margin at the venue and the second-largest in the tournament’s history over the last three decades. Scheffler, who had not won a tournament since January, noted that his success felt long overdue. “I felt like a week like this was coming,” he remarked. “I felt like I was on repeat all year just being like, ‘Hey, I’m playing solid. I’m close.’ It feels good to be answering some different questions at the end of this week.”

Throughout the final round, Scheffler maintained a steady pace, extending his initial two-stroke lead to five by the middle of the day. He bolstered his performance with key birdies on the 11th, 13th, and 16th holes. Reflecting on his consistency, he noted, “I played solid golf all day, really all week. I felt like I’ve been in a good rhythm. I didn’t hit maybe as many fairways this week, but I was really sharp with the irons, and I rolled it really good on the greens. That’s a good compensation if you’re going to try to have success out here.”

Scheffler acknowledged the frustration of his earlier performances this season, stating, “I have had some close calls this year. I feel like I kept saying at the end of each tournament that I feel like I am playing pretty good – it’s just little things that aren’t going my way.” With this win, he solidifies his position at the top of the standings as the FedEx Cup playoffs move to St Louis, Missouri, for the upcoming BMW Championship, an event Scheffler won last year. The report also notes that it was the tournament’s second-largest margin of victory in the past 30 years and the largest winning gap at TPC Southwind.
