James Rew has received his first-ever call-up to England’s Test squad for the upcoming match against Zimbabwe. The 21-year-old batter replaces Jordan Cox, who was ruled out due to injury.

Rew has been in exceptional form in the County Championship. Just this past Monday, he scored a century against Essex. So far in his first-class career, Rew has registered 10 centuries. He was also a key member of England’s squad in the 2022 ICC Under-19 World Cup, scoring a crucial 95 in the final—the highest score in that match. Since then, he has remained on the selectors’ radar, and now he finally gets his chance at the senior level.

Currently playing for Somerset, Rew has continued to impress in the ongoing County Championship season. He boasts an impressive batting average of 54.21, with a highest unbeaten score of 152.
